As it has become increasingly difficult for many long-time residents of the city to pay their property taxes, it has become increasingly important that relief be made available to those in need of it. I have filed a request to broaden eligibility and as necessary to amend state statutory programs. I also filed a resolution adopted by the Board of Aldermen urging the Mayor to take all possible steps to assist and encourage city residents to use the Circuit Breaker Provision of state law to refund eligible low income seniors who pay excessive (in terms of income) property taxes.
