Brian YatesAs a Member of the Aldermanic Committee
on Community Preservation, I have supported the purchase of parcels at the
following locations to expand existing open space and make it more
functional or to add totally new open space:
Crystal Lake (two parcels)
Angino Farm
Forte Land next to Dolan Pond Conservation Area
Kessler Woods (part)
As Chair of the Zoning and Planning
Committee, I have strongly advocated for enough resources to enable the
Conservation Commission to properly manage its properties.
I supported the updating of the city’s
Open Space Plan to provide access to state funding.
I supported the transfer of DPW land near
Rumford Avenue and the Charles River for Open Space and Recreation use.
I support opening up existing city sites
like the City Hall ponds and Bullough’s Pond to easier public view. I support
marking brooks and streams that cross public ways with signs and cutting back
excessive vegetation to make them more visible.
I am on the Advisory Board of the
Newton
Conservators.
I am the President of the Friends of Hemlock Gorge.
